Tyler The Creator is on an incredible hot streak that continues with his dance-oriented 9th studio album, DON’T TAP THE GLASS.
DON’T TAP THE GLASS debuted this week at No. 1 on Billboard’s 200 albums chart, the fourth consecutive project from the California artist to earn that distinction.
Tyler posted a summary and description of what DON’T was meant to inspire on his Instgram account.

“I thought ‘Damn, a natural form of expression and a certain connection they have with music is now a ghost,” he wrote about asking friends why they don’t dance as much these days. “It made me wonder how much of our human spirit got killed because of the fear of being a meme all for having a good time.”
DON’T, produced entirely by Tyler himself, is an album that throws caution to the wind and ignores snickering cell phone holders with thumpers like “Big Poe,” featuring Pharrell under his Sk8brd alias, sweet New Jack Swing grooves like “Don’t You Worry Baby” featuring Madison McFerrin and a laid-back West Coast vibe called “Sucka Free.”
The album is only 10 tracks and 28 1/2 minutes long, so true to his message, Tyler The Creator doesn’t want you to work too hard to understand the music. But he does want you to dance, and upon listening to DON’T TAP THE GLASS, that becomes easy to do.
