June has been Black Music Month for the previous 46 years and year 47 might be the most important of them all.
We live in a world now where anything Black people have accomplished and achieved is on target to be erased, denied and buried.
Our musical contributions hold up among the most important. You don’t have modern music in any genre without blues and gospel, dominated by Black people since before we were “granted our freedom.”
That is why I am proud, honored and privileged to share our Black Music Month 30 series every June possible.
The #BMM30 series, as I call it for social media purposes, is a way to remind the world (and ourselves) of Black America’s musical legacy and maybe even teach people some things that they didn’t know.
There will be discussions on our podcast about albums, artists, genres, producers, musicians and so on who have great influence on Black music and Black culture.
You can expect some Funk, some Jazz, some Go Go, the 60s, the 70s, the 80s, men, women, you name it, we’ll have it; it’ll be just as Henry Ford once said about the Model T, as long as it’s Black.
As On The Groove Line continues to grow and develop, we look forward to being a fun and informative place you visit for old school music conversation and current music reviews and discussions.
Especially this month, where every stop On The Groove Line will be celebrating Black excellence.
Happy Black Music Month, folks.
